I feel very nervous when faced with short putts.

Short putts can be difficult as we expect to hole them every time, try the tip on page 85 and hopefully you will gain some confidence for the course.

I always seem to hit my putts a long way past the hole.

Distance control is a difficult area of putting, greens will run at varying speeds at different times of the year, you could try a lighter putter, also practice with your eyes closed as thus will help to judge pace.

How do I putt better on a windy day.

Weather conditions are what makes golf fun; however a windy day on fast greens can make putting very difficult. My advice is to widen your stance and crouch over the ball this will give you a more stable base.
